Take home a bit of Berlin - while supporting a local artist. No judgment if you want to pick up a piece of the Berlin Wall or an Ampelmann magnet as your souvenir from your trip to Berlin. However, I suggest you also stop by the Berlin Art Market by the Zeughaus to pick up a locally created art piece.
Since the market is located in the center of Museum Island it's easy to reach in between hitting up Berlin's most central attractions. There's a variety of prints and originals on canvas, with most of the artists present to discuss their work and available to take commissions.
My favorite artist there is Ryoko Nagara, a Japanese artist who draws cats as people living their lives in Berlin. It's absolutely adorable! My favorite print of hers is either a drawing of a cat in a red sweatshirt riding the S-Bahn or a cat in Kreuzberg eating a döner. Whatever you end up finding, I'm sure you'll love it. I always end up buying a small print every time I visit.
