If you happen to be used to buying your cheese in industrially produced, cut and packed identical pieces at a grocery store - well now you are in Switzerland, the Emmental valley is right around the corner and Swiss cheese culture is still going strong in the self-declared world capital of cheese. Still, due to industrial mass production this kind of shops have become rare in urban areas as well as in rural Switzerland. Therefore it is quite an accomplishment that the Chäshütte (cheese hut) that was founded in the late 19th century was passed to a young generation of cheese enthusiasts a couple of years ago.
In the cold season I often drop by here to get my raclette (the smokey one is amazing) or the very tasty fondue. On any other time of year the spot is great to just get inspired by the stunning selection of authentic local cheeses to pimp my sandwich or complete my picnic. Whatever you need: step inside, take your time, say cheeese!
