Artforum is not just a local bookshop, it’s a whole institution and a cultural symbol. In the fierce competition with bigger chains, they decided to continue selling only quality books and magazines, carefully picked by their helpful staff.
It’s located in one of the nicest areas of town, full of old villas- Palisády, a great place for a stroll with swallows flying overhead. I like to walk aimlessly in the area and usually end up at Artforum. It’s like a comforting and familiar place where you can go through the shelves and spend long minutes just wanting to buy too many books.
And that’s a good vibe a bookshop can give you.
There’s a huge selection on any topic, from politics, religion, sociology and history to travel guides. English speaking customers will find a decent selection of the latest fiction releases, cookbooks and classics. It’s the perfect place to find a gift for any family member, including kids.
The staff are super helpful and knowledgeable, make sure to ask them when you can’t decide what to buy.
On your way out check their original canvas bags or sit down with your new purchase and a cup of coffee in the café occupying one corner of the room.
