The Central European House of Photography (SEDF) is in a side street to one of the main tourist paths, so it might not be immediately visible. Every time I go there the place is totally empty - which I actually truly enjoy – you will have the place to yourself. It's a rather small gallery, but they organize the main photographic festival in Slovakia, the Month of Photography. It's one of my favourite events of the year with multiple exhibitions around Bratislava, taking place from the end of October to the beginning of December. But even throughout the year they have great exhibitions, mixing big names with more local Central European artists.
They are located just behind the University Library. The gallery spreads out over two floors, you will find the ticket office on the first floor. They also sell various photography-related magazines and books from Slovak and Czech photographers.
If you are a real photography enthusiast and feel like improving your own skills, you can join their courses customized even for total beginners or those who already know the difference between automatic and manual. The courses specialise on portraits, landscape photography, animals or even courses for kids during holidays.
