Right in the center of Bratislava, with a perfect view of the castle, Church of the Clarisses towers over the narrow cobbled streets of the Old Town. The history of this impressive gothic edifice dates back to the late 13th century, and since that time, it has gone through a lot of reconstructions, especially in the 18th century, when it was rebuilt in the vein of the upcoming rococo style – however, the gothic nature of the church remained. Nowadays, the whole church perfectly restored, it mainly serves cultural purposes, as the place where foremost classical concerts are performed - but not only.
Standing in the most historically looking location in Bratislava, not only does the Church of the Clarisses represent a stunning piece of architecture, it reigns over those tiny cobblestoned streets, where history still dwells. And now, let’s imagine the masterpieces of this godly form of art being performed within the Church of Clarisses - the most preserved gothic church in Bratislava, one of cathedral-like magnificence.
Personally, I can’t even express how much I love this part of Bratislava. It has its very own kind of ambience one can’t fully explain, only experience. In summary: tranquil ancient streets, cobbled and narrow, while the tower of Church of Clarisses spires high above - that’s as close as I can get...
