I always felt that Place Flagey was missing a good bookshop, so I was very excited when a branch of Brüsel opened there, (the original is on Bd. Anspach in the city centre). The bookshop has changed ownership and name since then, but still provides a great selection of art books, literature and posters. It specialises in comics, particularly Belgian titles. Comic books, known as the ninth art in French, are very popular in this part of the world and it's likely that many of the famous ones, known globally, originate in Belgium.
It's a perfect place to browse and get to know the ninth art. The atmosphere is very relaxed and, unlike most places in Brussels, they're even open on Sundays so you can check it out after breakfast at the Flagey market.
In case you get really into Belgium's colourful world of comics, they also sell a range of figurines and souvenirs. A giant plastic Tintin figure, anyone?
