Spotter since 2023
The coffee is good, yes, and so are the pies! You could just stay there all afternoon having a tasty brunch, teleworking, playing games, and reading...

The warm atmosphere and easy-to-share dishes mean this is a great place for groups. Do check their website beforehand as the menu changes every month.

People come to Caberdouche for the atmosphere, homemade food, the terrace, and for the beer menu, which includes carefully selected, original beers.

At Tartes Françoises the pies look and taste homemade - they are to die for. My personal favourites are the banana bread and the mini gourmand.

This cosy bar serves carefully selected wines, and specialty cocktails made with a local Belgian liqueur (Eau de Villée), as well as beers and other common drinks.

Boasting buckwheat pancakes (filled with ham, cheese, egg, or mushroom), dry sausage, country-style pâté, and terrine, the menu even includes gluten-free options.

In my opinion, there is no better place in the city center to enjoy a good glass of wine with a fine dinner at a fair price than at Le Cercle des Voyageurs.

Le Wappers is one of those timeless neighborhood pubs where the tables and chairs have been polished by generations of locals and the TV is always on (unless there's a concert).

About me
I'm a French expat from Nantes, in the west of France. My family roots are partly in Brittany and partly in the Caribbean (Guadeloupe), which gave me a curiosity for mixed cultures, learning languages, and experiencing different lifestyles. I moved to Brussels in 2009 and have been living here without a car ever since. I love exploring the city on foot, going off the beaten track to find charming, underrated spots. I'm passionate about music and people, so you can count on me to scout the best places in town for live music! Professionally I combine these things by working in human resources by day and as a singer-songwriter by night.
Why Brussels?
I feel totally at home in Brussels, though it wasn't love at first sight. I remember being new, isolated, and easy prey for tourist traps. I wish I had known Spotted by Locals when I arrived! Today Brussels is my favorite place to live because it's both a village and a capital: it is small enough to be tamed but very active culturally, full of green areas, and brimming with bars and restaurants. A fantastic mix for a hyperactive person such as myself :)
