Imagine a café where, after sipping a good brew, you can purchase any of the things that made your experience enjoyable: from the designer cup and saucer to the sofa you were ensconced in. That café exists and is called Living Room!
Sitting at the heart of the Brussels European Quarter, Living Room lives up to its name. For me it is a homey refuge from the often-drizzling weather. Since its opening, Living Room has quickly become one of my regular go-to spots: whether it is for a quick healthy lunch, to catch-up with old friends over coffee and cake, or simply for some ‘me time’. If you pass by, there’s a good chance you will find me typing away at my laptop and nibbling their delicious cookies. Maxime, the owner, assured me that his wife has personally researched and perfected their cookie recipe, which is probably why I find it difficult to find a suitable contender in Brussels.
Recently, I have also discovered Living Room’s brunch. Every Saturday and Sunday, you can help yourself to a generous serving of scrambled eggs and bacon accompanied by a warm scone. Or, if you are more calorie-conscious, you can choose one of the healthier options, such as the scrambled tofu with salmon. If the weather is cooperative, you may even enjoy your food on the terrace on Place Jean Rey.
The calm of the European Quarter on weekends shouldn't be underestimated, and Living Room is certainly the place to experience it!
