In the southeast of Brussels lies a little gem adored by joggers, dog walkers, and families. It is a long winding path bordering a river, encompassing two parks: Parc Seny and Parc Ten Reuken. It starts off near a primary school, a favorite meeting place for toddlers who enjoy the climbing frame and sandpit. It continues on with large grassy areas where you can picnic or enjoy a music festival in summer. Cross the road into the next bit and you can enjoy a long walk around the lake, with swans and other wild birds bringing life to a Disney-like decor. Small bridges, floating structures, benches, and porches are scattered along the way, making your walk as relaxing as possible.
The final part brings you near the old Axa building, currently disused. It is a 1960s orange glass and metal construction, very striking against the green background. You can take spectacular pictures here, but watch out: a guard is always on patrol with a dog and they don’t appreciate gatecrashers. No need to get into trouble, just walk around the lake, the scenery is beautiful. Several bronze statues are on display, which provides more opportunities for original pictures.
I love this park in any season. You can sit on the grassy banks, walk or run around it, hide in the vegetation for a romantic kiss… What is more, an ice cream truck comes near the playground in summer. What better way to spend a sunny afternoon?
