Belgium = Waffles. I think everyone who visits Brussels has waffles and chocolate in mind, but when you come here it's often difficult to spot the 'real' ones. When walking around certain areas you'll often see yellow food trucks selling waffles on the go, they're quite deceptive but can be AMAZING! The truck parked at the Place Royal is the best one I know of, beautiful location and fresh waffles all year round (but especially in the summer). On top of a good waffle, you can also enjoy the gorgeous architecture of the Place Royale and the old English diplomat houses.
Be careful which one you trust, you need to make sure they make the waffles fresh (usually packed in big white buckets filled to the brim with little round dough balls). Some of these trucks just re-heat their waffles, if you see this it's worth the wait to come across another one or until they run out and have to start a new batch.
The waffle stand at Place Royal always has fresh waffles and is located in the perfect spot to take your freshly made waffle and walk down to the Mont des Arts to take your iconic Brussels waffle picture! Tip from a local, just take 'une gaufre nature' no need for any toppings, and be careful because they're hot!
