Mar Girgis (Saint George) church in old Cairo is a historical church and monastery located on top of an ancient Roman fortress that welcomes all visitors and furthermore offers them spiritual and inner peace.
When I visit this church I like to greet it and I can feel it greeting me back with its beautiful colors and peaceful ambience. The aura of peace in this church is so strong you can easily sit there for hours doing nothing. The beauty of the scenery and the lovely smell of incense. While being there, I often find myself drifting in thoughts, completely forgetting my surroundings, Every single spot in this church is special and I always like to pay attention to every part of it and enjoy the beauty in the small details.
The interior and the exterior of the church are quite mesmerizing which makes it stand out from the surrounding churches in Coptic Cairo with its oval design and it’s fresco painting, is one of a kind.
