Smack Dab Chicago is a fantastic breakfast spot for casual dining in or a quick to-go option. They are known for their breakfast sandwiches, particularly the "Bestest Seller", which is made with sausage, garlic chive mayo, and cheese on a homemade biscuit.
I went with the vegan green breakfast sandwich, which was satisfying in terms of both flavor and sustenance. I also ordered a side of biscuits and gravy, which is the perfect comfort food! The kind staff was also generous enough to gift me two complimentary donuts, which are made fresh daily. I grabbed a spot against the wall that had cozy couch-styled seating and enjoyed a solo brunch date.
Smack Dab stood out in its employees' warm demeanor towards customers, which made the cafe feel like a hostel dining area. I felt extremely welcome as a guest! Smack Dab's community focus is also exemplified in their free (donations are welcome) community meal on the first Wednesday of each month at 5 pm. Anyone is welcome to enjoy seasonal menu items such as soups, sandwiches, and sweet treats.
