If there's one thing I wish Chicago had more of in its restaurant scene, it would be street food. It is uncommon to get food from vendors on the street (which is sometimes arguably the best food you can get), but luckily, in some neighborhoods in Chicago, foodies can still find it.
Taco Loco of Pilsen sells freshly grilled tacos under a tent on the sidewalk. It is a bit of a walk from Pilsen's main center, though worth it for some of Chicago's best tacos. The tent is run by Adan, who mans the booth entirely alone, even during unpleasant weather conditions. His ingredients are kept fresh in coolers which are grilled on the spot in front of customers.
The menu options include tacos, burritos, tortas, and quesadillas with various meat options such as chicken, pork, or beef, as well as a veggie-only option. Although the food is simplistic, it is always fresh and delicious. My go-to order is the "tacos de pollo con todo" (chicken tacos with everything).
Next time that you're in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago be sure to stop by Adan's tent to try one of my favorite tacos in the city!
