By Central Park(s) I actually mean two parks which are separated by the main square in Chisinau. The parks occupy a huge surface of the city center, so there is plenty of space for walking.
The first section is also called Stefan cel Mare Park, as it the one right behind Stefan cel Mare monument. It is the oldest park in Chisinau, having trees that are 130-180 years old. It was originally created in 1818 and it went through several adjustments and improvements before World War II. Also, the park has the so-called Avenue of the Classics which was inaugurated in 1958. It consists of a line up of statues and busts of Moldovan and Romanian authors and personalities. There are many coffee spots around the park to make your walk more enjoyable in autumn and winter days. Also, there are two-three restaurants right inside the park.
The second section of the central park is behind the Triumph Arch and the park surrounds the city cathedral - so it is also called the Cathedral Park. If you go around the cathedral, you will also get to the pedestrian street of the city center which has some great restaurants and cafes as well.
Our parks are full of benches and autumn leaves, so surely it is worth taking a walk and visiting them both when in Chisinau. Also, they are nicely lit with beautiful street lamps. I most like walking around them at night, when they are quiet and especially romantic.
