Do you love hummus? Would you die for good falafel? Do you enjoy Israeli cuisine? Then you’ll be in (hummus) heaven at Mashery Hummus in Cologne.
There’s avocado hummus, beet root-walnut-feta hummus, mushroom hummus, fava bean hummus… and many more. Hummus overload! I had never had such creamy hummus in Germany before, and also the falafel is perfect. Crunchy outside and green and soft inside.
Mashery Hummus focuses on organic, fair-trade and homemade products — another reason why I like to go and spend maybe a little bit more than in other spots. Even the pita bread they serve with the hummus is from Israel and of course you get Israeli drinks like Arak or special beer.
It’s a cute, small restaurant with a familiar atmosphere and friendly service, and if you can’t get enough of the food, you can also get homemade hummus to go to enjoy at home. You get a glass full of hummus for €4. It’s just so much better than what you would get from the supermarket!
