The Alte Metzgerei is a burger and grill restaurant that serves my favourite burgers in Cologne. Their burgers and burritos are made with locally-sourced ingredients and contain a 150g homemade patty made from 100% responsibly-raised beef. Alternatives to beef include pork, chicken and veggie patties (sweet curry or Mediterranean).
My favourite burgers at the Alte Metzgerei are the Hot Piri-Piri (spicy chilli cream and jalapenos), Mushroom (garlic cream and mushrooms) and Smoked Chipotle (chipotle cream and fried onions) with a beef patty. Their coleslaw is also delicious, and they sometimes have daily specials. You can order your burger or burrito by phone and either eat there (it is a rather small restaurant) or take away. You can also order food for your private events (contact them by phone or email for more information).
