Do you like outdoor events in a stadium? Or even football? Cologne has a premier football league team (1. Bundesliga) - my favorite team is actually a different one, but if you live in Cologne, you automatically become a supporter of the ‘FC’.
That’s because the ‘Kölner’ celebrate their football the same way they always celebrate - with food, drinks and many songs. Once you are at a home game, it’s hard to escape the fascination.
I like to go to the RheinEnergieStadion for a game with some friends. We usually go there with a little bit more time and treat ourselves to a portion of fries or a stadium bratwurst. I just call it this because it simply belongs to it - plus a delicious Kölsch beer.
And then I try not to go too late to my seat, because I don’t wanna miss the fans singing their hymns and swinging their supporter’s scarves. Maybe you already know one of the ‘kölsch’ songs from the Flotte... One line in the club anthem is: "we stand by you ‘FC Kölle’" and you can live this here.
Here you can find all dates for home games, and in the summer international stars also perform in the stadium, like AC/DC e.g. Or you go there to sing Christmas carols with hundreds of others.
You can also just take a guided tour of the arena on the football pitch, through the dressing rooms etc. (Info here). Both of these are firmly on my agenda this year.

What struck me the most were the frescoes in the three apse ceilings by Hermann Gottfried. These powerful frescoes bring colors and dynamism to the church.
