When I am hungry, and I mean really hungry, and want to go out for a nice dinner, I go to Bei Oma Kleinmanns, one of my absolute favorites!
It is an traditional restaurant with a long history but now with a modern concept. At Bei Oma Kleinmann (which means ‘at Grandma Kleinmann’) they serve delicious meals based on a large menu of all varieties of ‘Schnitzel’ – even some vegetarian. But they also have a weekly changing menu with seasonal food like chanterelles, asparagus and roast goose, for example.
The homely interior is composed of old wooden tables and an old beer bar, and because it is always very busy, you have to make a reservation one or some days before (also online), BUT you can also always go there without a reservation, give your name at the counter and they'll put you on a waiting list. You'll have some delicious ‘Kölsch’ (Cologne) beer, stand at the bar, and get a table after 20-40 minutes (though not with big groups - better come early then. Kitchen closes at 23:00).
It is worth the wait, which is proof that everything tastes good!
The staff are always quick and in a contagiously good mood. In summertime they also have seats outside.
Oh, are you still asking yourself "what if I am not that hungry"? Don’t be shy to ask for a doggybag... everybody does it... because the Schnitzel is huge!
So start your evening at Oma Kleinmanns and then dive into the nightlife around.
