I stumbled across Dough Pizzeria purely by chance. The big painted letters spelling out “PIZZA” on the wall outside was more than enough to grab my attention and get me to head inside. And oh how glad I am that I did!
Dough Pizzeria is much more than your average pizza place. What really makes this place stand out? Well, it’s all in the name: dough. They specialize in creating a classic, high quality and even healthy dough (the longer rise period makes it lighter) so not only is it delicious but you don’t have to feel too guilty about indulging. The perfect melt-in-the-mouth texture means there are no uneaten crusts at this pizzeria and make the humble margherita my go-to order. Either buy by the slice at lunchtime or go for a full pizza. You can also help yourself to fresh basil to top as well as a variety of infused olive oils.
With vegan options available as well as some local Scottish options (haggis pizza anyone?) there is bound to be something for everyone to enjoy here. They also have another sit-down branch on Rose Street.
