Luca’s has been one of my favourite places to go ever since I was a little kid. Walking inside is a little like wandering into Willie Wonka’s factory. Sweets and candy decorate the walls and the deep purple interiors give the whole place a magical feel.
At Luca’s café you can enjoy a larger meal or savoury snacks but what they are really famous for is their desserts and more specifically their own brand ice cream and sorbets. A family business, Luca’s began with the opening of their first ice cream parlour in 1908 and ice cream is still at the heart of what they do today.
The flavours range from traditional vanilla and chocolate to more unusual Scottish specialities such as Scottish tablet and Irn Bru sorbet. One of my personal favourite things to order is the ice cream float. This is soda served with scoops of ice cream on top that creates the ultimate indulgent milkshake experience.
