Vegetarianism and veganism are definitely having a moment in Edinburgh with more and more veggie and vegan-only eateries opening up all over the city. This is great news for visitors with specific dietary requirements but is also a perfect opportunity for those who don’t follow the diet to discover some delicious dishes.
One of my own such discoveries is Hummus, a Mediterranean veggie and vegan café located at the bottom of Morningside Road. What first drew me in was the mouth-watering aroma that hit me as I walked past. This place is perhaps the very definition of the saying "good things come in small packages". It is diminutive inside, with a counter, one table and a few bar tables to eat at. Yet for the small size they offer an incredible variety of food. Go for a falafel wrap with home-made hummus and baba ganoush or try a selection of their mezza dishes. Eat in (if you can find the space) or take away.
