Sugar Daddy's is one of Edinburgh’s gluten-free bakeries, making it a treat for those who struggle with allergies. In addition, whilst not all of their cakes are vegan, they have lots of dairy-free choices and everything is well labelled. It’s a real weight off your shoulders when you find a bakery that creates for people with allergens, as you can visit knowing that they really know what goes into their food.
Sugar Daddy's started in a small unit near the Botanic Gardens (which still exists and is sometimes open), and recently expanded into their much larger store in Marchmont. Just a short walk from the popular Meadows Gardens, their large café/bakery now serves up all-day brunches alongside a brilliant selection of cupcakes, tray-bakes, cookies and other sugary goodies.
A tourist attraction in their own right for gluten-free and vegan tourists, it’s a devilishly naughty place to stop in for a locally sourced coffee. I recommend teaming it up with a fluffy vanilla sponge cupcake topped with buttercream and a drizzle of handmade salted caramel. Yummy!
