When I lived abroad there was one big thing I missed so much: good German bread and even better bread rolls. Covered with jam, ham, cheese or just butter and salt it is the best breakfast, snack and quick dinner I can imagine. Crunchy from outside and soft baked dough inside; that's the fundamental basis of a traditional German Abendbrot (dinner). And here you can find it: Cafe Kroneberger.
The small family owned shop is always ranked among the best bakeries in Frankfurt. They have a decent variety of 20 different breads and 15 different bread rolls, all fresh, every day produced in their own wood fired stove in the backyard.
In recent years it has become one of the top places to see and shop in our neighborhood; people are queuing from early morning until late at noon, guided tours are passing by, but still: the quality is one of the best and it's therefore worth visiting.
