The Trinkhalle is a staple of Frankfurt’s drinking culture and often serves as the starting point to a proper night out. Also known as a kiosk, no two are alike, and you might be surprised at the assortment of German beers they typically have on offer.
Around 2017, the owners of FitFit decided to carve out the remains of an older Trinkhalle, transforming the tiny building into a micro-club. Hosting DJs in a room that fits no more than 15 people, the establishment soon ran afoul of the city government and had to halt its “club nights” quite early on.
Fitfit remains the go-to watering hole for Frankfurt’s elusive hipster community however, often spilling out onto the street when the weather proves nice enough. The tiny beers are cheap and there’s plenty of salty snacks on offer behind the bar. I love this place because it’s a welcome reprieve from Frankfurt’s abundance of cocktail bars and clubs.
You’re more or less guaranteed to have a crowd on Fridays and Saturdays, however I much prefer it for a laid back after-work drink with friends. Look for the neon pineapple in the window.
