It’s a lazy and sunny Saturday and after walking around in the sun for a couple of hours I just feel like having something light, tasty, unique. You can find Falafel pretty much everywhere in Frankfurt, but at Hummus Küch’ you get so much more. Hummus Küch’ is an Israeli snack bar, perfect for light meals throughout the whole day. After having closed down in late 2020, this unique location is now back where it belongs – in a charming location in the Sachsenhausen Quarter!
Hummus Küch’ creates a cozy environment in a very simple and unpretentious manner. You order at the counter and grab your food yourself once it’s ready; all dishes are vegan and served in a plain, honest and delicious manner, offering unique Middle-Eastern flavours.
I am particularly fond of the Schakschuka, a tomato and red pepper stew served with falafel and chili peppers, but on a warmer day, delicacies like Ful (a dish of cooked fava beans served with vegetable oil) or Hummus (a chickpea/Tahini paste) make for a delightful snack. My favourite way to enjoy Hummus Küch’ is with a small group: we order a series of different dishes and everyone gets to taste a bit of everything! It makes for the perfect end of a Museum-hopping afternoon or a long walk along the river.
Indeed a very special Middle-Eastern Sachsenhausen gem!
