Have you ever had the feeling you missed the forest when you were visiting a foreign city? Well let me tell you: you’re not alone. I love the chaos and the razzle-dazzle during a good old city trip, but sometimes I need to be able to return to some peaceful place where I can hear my own thoughts. In Ghent we have some cool nature spots to return to whenever you feel like, but nothing's better than some nature atmosphere PLUS some nice food you didn’t have to prepare yourself.
Okay enough of the mystery talk: Emmy’s is the place you’re looking for! Although at midday it gets quite full because of all the students in the neighborhood, you can still feel at ease. I suggest you go later in the afternoon, around 13:00 - 14:00, to avoid the busiest hour.
Here you can relax in one of the cozy couches and look at the really nice forest print on the wall. Entering Emmy’s brings you back to the forest, as you’ll mostly see wood. The interior is well done and the food is even better! You can eat a sandwich or a flaguette. I HIGHLY recommend the flaguette, some sort of warm round sandwich with the best salty fillings. You have plenty of choices!
