I think I just found the most beautiful lunch bar in Ghent, and if you think I’m probably exaggerating -- NO, I’m not! I don’t understand how I didn’t find this place sooner, because it already is my all-time favorite lunch place!
BOON is a lunch bar near the beautiful castle in Ghent (Gravensteen), so it’s pretty close to… well almost everything in the city center. The interior is so inspiring, as an interior freak I assure you; you’ll fall in love with this place. There are three old, but well preserved wall paintings from when the place was an ice cream parlor (yes I did my research and yes I feel very intelligent that I can give you some historical facts). As we all know, with interior you can’t feed a starving tourist, so luckily they came through with their healthy food.
For those who need their daily dose of meat, I wouldn’t recommend this place as it is mostly vegetarian. They have a wide range of different salads and quiches. They also have a soup that changes on a daily base. BOON has a very big assortment of all kind of super cool hipster drinks, so if you want to channel your inner hipster, definitely try the rhubarb soda. GOD DAMN that was good! I tried the soup of the day (tomato soup) and it was also very good, although I would’ve loved a little more bread with it. But probably you can ask for more if you like.
