One of the benefits of not living in the city center is being closer to the local habits. One of them is the Sunday market in Ledeberg. A lot of people find it strange to spend a Sunday morning on a square under a church. But the atmosphere is amazing. You can find all kinds of people over here, young, old, with dogs, with kids, with purple hair, without hair...
I love to hang out with friends and a sparkling wine at the mobile wine bar talking to people you don't know. Even now when winter is coming. Buying flowers to bring color into the living room, listening to the market vendor who uses the most poetic and lyrical words to praise his merchandise. It makes me happy.
There is absolutely one stall I always visit. Right across from the mobile wine bar there is an old lady who sells fruits and vegetables. She always calls me 'meneerke', which is Dutch for 'little man' while I'm 1.86m and she says goodbye by saying 'see you next week'. Of course I'll come back then! At the stall 'De volle maan' I buy different kinds of cheese, perfect as an appetizer. Even in the winter.
For the music lovers who are not into downloading or cd's, you can still find music cassettes over there. Only at Ledeberg market.
