If visiting the Southside of Glasgow, Queen's Park is a must-visit, especially on a clear day!
Climb up to the flagpole and take a rest to admire the beautiful view, as you can see from the picture above, on a clear day you get an amazing view of the city with the Campsie Fells and the mountains surrounding Glasgow at the horizon. Unfortunately, my camera doesn't do justice to the beauty of this view but trust me you'll fall in love!
If your vision is better than mine you can also spot the tower of Glasgow University as well and some great piece of architecture such as Victorian tenements and the post-war high rises.
If you are visiting in winter don't forget to grab a sledge and take the fastest route down the hill or just sit by and enjoy some people-watching. Many brave locals come here with their skis and snowboards and last time I visited I spent my time watching their tricks. You can also grab an ice cream (yes Glaswegians are often found eating ice cream in the snow) or a hot chocolate by the local ice cream van.
This is also a great running spot - every Saturday at 09:30 there's a free organised 5km timed run. This is free of charge event organised by volunteers, the perfect way to meet some locals!
