Roots, Fruits and Flowers (more commonly referred to locally as "roots and fruits") is my favourite stop for all the whole foods, fruits and vegetables you could possibly need. They are the hub for providing many residents and restaurants of Glasgow with locally sourced, environmentally responsible and fresh produce since 1980! They also sell beautiful flowers and luscious green plants from their florist section.
Situated only 2 minutes walk to the west from Kelvinbridge subway (Great Western Road Exit), we are welcomed to Roots and Fruits with a street-side fruit stall displaying some of their most colorful, mouth-watering deals of the day. This is when you know you've made it. One look at this display on a typically grey Glasgow day is enough to bring a smile to any passersby. In the warmer months you might even see some chairs and tables outside to be used by customers of the Café.
Take a trip inside the grocers and find a bountiful selection of fresh fruit, veg and tasty foods from local sources. Another couple of doors down they also have their newly opened café.
If you're looking for something to eat, I would highly recommend their deli, which makes delicious fresh food to go or to be enjoyed while people watching at the two tables in the shop window, looking out onto a busy Great Western Road.
