Stepping into Paola Alimenari feels like traveling back in time. This charming little deli in Ottensen, run by Sicilian-born Paola, is a love letter to her roots and the rich flavors of Italy. Every product is carefully chosen. Paola treasures Italian classics like Cantuccini and Amaretti, while her seasonal truffle selection makes the shop a go-to destination for those seeking rare culinary treasures.
The shelves are a feast for the eyes: premium olive oils stand proudly alongside aged balsamic vinegars and delicate condiments from Il Borgo di Balsamico, all beautifully arranged with care. But the true magic lies in the fresh selections: plump olives in every variety, sun-ripened tomatoes, oversized Sicilian lemons, and handmade pasta that practically calls out for a rich sauce.
Adding to the charm, Paola always keeps the shop filled with fresh flowers, making every visit feel a little more special. When I’m planning a memorable Italian dinner, this is where I go to find the perfect ingredients.
