When I am at Inselpark Wilhelmsburg I'm usually quite thirsty, as I go there by bike and it is a loooong way from my place in Lokstedt. The good thing: there is Willi Villa with scenic views and a canoe rental. But be aware that it's all from May till October. During this season they have freshly brewed tea and coffee and of course I enjoy the cakes and ice cream. When it is too hot or I like even more of the water paths in the gardens I rent a canoe.
There is a 3km loop to do and you can check the diverse landscapes. Yes: there are some! The typical German "Kleingarten" for example. These are small gardens with lodges where people can enjoy their weekend gardening and grilling plus inviting friends over to chill. Sometimes you see the "Kleingarten" within the city from the trains and foreigners often mistake them for beautiful slums. Well, here at Inselpark no-one will misinterpret them I guess. They were at this site even before the Inselpark was built, but the waterways have got even more beautiful. Enjoy!
