I have always read and loved comics, actually I learned to read with them! So the comic book store Kulku-katin poika in Kallio is naturally one of the dearest places in Helsinki to me. I started going there soon after I moved to Helsinki and now I live even closer to it! Lovely.
The owner of the shop continues his father's work, who used to have an antiquarian book shop called Kulku-katti ("stray cat"), so naturally the son's store is called Kulku-katin poika, "Son of stray cat"!
The store is perfect for collectors, but also for people who are just starting to get into comics. For non-Finnish speakers the only minus is that the stores concentrates on comics in Finnish...but I've always thought that comics are one of the best ways to learn new languages, so I encourage anyone to try! Also many new Finnish comic albums have also an English translation in them, and I'm sure the owner is happy to help anyone interested to find the perfect comic album for them.
