Korean food is one of the latest trends in Helsinki with new places popping up all over the city now. However, the very best one of them is also probably the least known secret here even by the locals: Pocha Korean Street Dining by The Soju Bar is located in the heart of Kallio and does not actually promote their restaurant too much. That's very understandable because the place is very small and usually busy with customers anyway. After you have visited it for the first time, you will surely understand why!
From bibimbap bowls to dumplings and sashimis, from bao buns to delicious octopus balls everything I have tried is so delicious that it's been years since I found such good treats anywhere the last time! You simply cannot decide which one is your favorite among the numerous izakaya portions (the Asian tapas) on the menu, including smaller and medium-sized options. Normally you would pay double the price for these in a fine dining restaurant, like Farang, in the city center. But not here! Remember to order some homemade kimchi as well!
Pocha also serves excellent drinks from sakes to sojus and excellent cocktails! However, it's good to point out that while the food is very moderately priced, with the drinks you end up easily spending the money you saved in the food portions here. Then again, Pocha is also a very comfortable place to enjoy your evening with modern Korean music playing in the background.
