I love local market halls and the most famous Vanha Kauppahalli, The Old Market Hall, has to be one of my favorite spots. Vanha Kauppahalli is located next to Kauppatori, Market Square, which is the most popular outdoor market in Helsinki. Vanha Kauppahalli is perfect for grocery shopping or eating. All kind of food products are available from bakery products to fish and vegetables. If you are visiting the city you can easily find a good selection of fresh local ingredients to cook for yourself or you can go for a coffee accompanied with a cinnamon roll for example, or eat lunch at one of the many coffee shops and restaurants located there.
One of my favorite spots inside Vanha Kauppahalli is like the heart of Vanha Kauppahalli Restaurant Story. Restaurant Story is actually located in the middle of everything and they serve all kinds of deli and café delicacies including warm food. One of the most interesting shops in Vanha Kauppahalli is the tiniest, Alko, which is the Finnish alcohol store.
