Şekerci Cafer Erol serves Turkish coffee with sweets (Turkish delight and marzipan), small glasses of water and sherbet as it used to be typically served in the palaces. Both the sherbet and the accompanying sweets are delicious and do not contain excessive amounts of sugar, which sharpens their flavor. Nowadays, you can't find this tradition in many other coffee houses, where they usually serve it only with water.
Turkish coffee has a strong taste as espresso, and the ones who prefer their coffee with milk might not like it at all. The quality of Turkish coffee depends on the quality of the beans and how well it is cooked with the foam on the top of the cup. The accompanying delicacies make the Turkish coffee ritual even better by clearing and sweetening our mouths, as many prefer to drink Turkish coffee without sugar.
Şekerci Cafer Erol is famous for its traditional desserts and the varieties of candies and Turkish delights. They opened their branch at Galataport recently, and the service here is more elegant compared to the other branches. Their branch in Kadıköy, on the other hand, is the oldest one and is visited mainly by locals but has just a few outdoor tables. Every year when the new year celebrations approach, they decorate the front side of the Kadıköy branch accordingly and people form long queues in front of the shop to take a photo.
