Even though you can find numerous bridges that go across the Vistula river in Krakow, my favourite has to be the Bernatek Footbridge. It connects two of Krakow's most beautiful neighborhoods: Podgorze and Kazimierz. The bridge is quite new because it was built in 2010 and was designed by local architect Andrzej Getter.
What makes this bridge special to me is the acrobat statues that are placed between the pedestrian walkway and the bike path. The statues look like they are balancing on a thread and give the impression that they do not follow the rules of gravity. Every time I cross this bridge I notice something new about the acrobats and I enjoy taking my time to appreciate the view.
The Bernatek Footbridge is a great place to visit if you are also searching for one of the city's most romantic spots. Locals and visitors started the well-known tradition of adding a lock with their name and the name of their partner and leaving it at the railings.
