I’m a huge enthusiast of both Kazimierz (Krakow’s Jewish district, where I work, eat, party and basically spend the majority of my time) and speciality coffee. Until recently it wasn’t that easy to enjoy both at the same time, but luckily Somnium Cafe Bar has made my dream come true. And I’m not using the word dream without reason, as that’s precisely what the Latin term somnium means.
This beautiful little coffee shop is run by Beata and Matviy, both truly passionate about what they do. They take their coffee very seriously – you can always expect beans from the best local and European roasteries. But there’s even more to this place: it really makes you feel at home. Somnium boasts one of the cosiest mezzanines in Krakow, and even though it’s quite small, they always manage to find enough space for everyone. The owners create a sense of community and often organise workshops, coffee cuppings and art exhibitions – you can always check the cafe’s Facebook, it’s highly likely they have some events planned. No matter if you’re a speciality coffee geek like myself or simply want to stop by for a caffeine refill and a delicious piece of cake – Somnium is sure to live up to your expectations.
