What a lovely place to eat! Casa dos Passarinhos, which in English means House of the Little Birds, is an honest neighborhood restaurant specialising in traditional and good Portuguese cuisine. Seafood is their speciality, although some meat meals also stand out. Casa dos Passarinhos has a long list of main dishes that always satisfy my appetite.
Give me their meat on the stone, where you literally cook a delicious steak on a hot steamed volcanic stone. First, a delicious barbecue, second, a very interesting experience!
Or give me their delicious and my all-time favourite Shrimp, "Açorda", which is a traditional dish from the Alentejo region, composed of mashed bread with garlic, coriander, olive oil, water, salt and egg. That's another interesting experience since they add the egg in front of you. I have tried Açordas all over Portugal, and none gets even close to the one this restaurant cooks. Other of my choices are the octopus Setubal style ("Polvo a moda de Setubal") which is really delicious, and also the Tuna "bitoque", which is an interesting variation of the Portuguese traditional bitoque.
Another thing I love about this place is that it's extremely inexpensive. Even a good bottle of wine only costs about €6. A bargain!
