Eating mushrooms can be a challenge for some. But if you're already a fan or you need a second opinion... you must head straight to this spot. It's delicious!
An Italian guy, Luigi Pintarelli, had this awkward but great idea of opening a restaurant that would serve only mushroom-based dishes. Fortunately, the idea came true in a place that isn't known for its restaurants, Feira da Ladra aka the Flea Market.
Busy from dusk 'till dawn especially on Saturdays, the Flea Market is a battle of elbows with people shouting and fighting for a stolen camera or a broken jar. When you're starving, you just want to get the hell out of there, have a nice place to rest your legs, with a view, if you're lucky, and a nice meal. Now, thanks to Luigi, there's a "Mushroom Temple in Lisbon". Located in the heart of Graça quarter near the Santa Engrácia church. This was one of my favorite eating experiences in Lisbon.
With sober decoration in vintage old "Tasca" style, with small details that will catch your eye. Attentive and helpful staff will explain everything. Check the starters 'cos you won't be sorry: There's a Thai and a mushroom creamy soup. Excellent mushrooms "Bolhão Pato" Style, delicious deep-fried goat cheese with chutney. Taste the mushroom risotto with walnuts - The best risotto I had in Lisbon by far!
Don't forget about the desserts: There's mushroom ice cream with chocolate brownie, crème brülée with mushrooms... and they are so gooooood :).
