Dobra Vaga probably sounds way better in Slovenian but nevertheless, the place, even if you can’t really associate with the name, is a must see. What is it all about? The main idea is to sell art by the kilogram. They feature young artists, living or working in Slovenia, some of them known on the streets of Ljubljana as graffiti or other types of street artists. This shop is also a gallery, a very colourful and interesting gallery, with a special room dedicated to “artist of the month.” This is also a good reason to be a regular guest there, like me. There is always something new.
The name Dobra Vaga, understood in Slovenian as ‘generous measure’, refers also to the venue, as it was meant to be a fish market. And not any kind of fish market but one designed by famous architect Jože Plečnik. So next time you’re wandering in the center of Ljubljana, don’t forget to check out this place, if nothing else it is never too hot there as its closeness to the river makes it a lot cooler.
