As Lebanese food abroad never hits like home, I've found a fix to the cravings. That, my friends, is Persian cuisine. It focuses on the grilled and charred aspects of the meats and brings the flavors to life with fresh salads and dips. And look no further than Beluga's Restaurant & Bar in Notting Hill to hit the jackpot.
The decor is entirely focused on making you feel like you're in a Persian home, and the staff is very welcoming and advises on portion sizes (you should listen to them... we definitely over-ordered).
It was my first time trying an Olvieh Salad, and we used up all the bread to wipe that bowl clean. The meats were juicy and grilled to perfection, while remaining quite fatty in taste and texture. We preferred the lamb to the chicken, paired with very refreshing yoghurt drinks.
All in all, a great experience. Definitely one of those places you go to with a large party and order mixed grills for the table.
