Originally built in the 1700s, Camden Passage runs between Islington Green and Angel. I love walking through this pedestrian alleyway not only because it offers a peaceful retreat from the traffic of Islington's streets but also because it truly feels like stepping into a different point in time.
Alongside a few boutiques selling designer items, Islington’s picturesque street is home to a number of antique traders. You can browse through an eclectic mix of bric-a-brac, vintage clothing and jewellery from different eras or retro furniture. Hidden at the back of Pierrepont Arcade, Caroline Carrier is a must-visit little store. Even if you are not into antiques, its impressive collection of English porcelain teapots and cups is worth exploring. Whether you are on the hunt for a Victorian teapot or a vintage brooch, Camden Passage is a treasure trove for collectors.
Beyond its old-world vibe, there is a fantastic selection of independent cafés and restaurants, while if you prefer a pint, The Camden Head offers a great beer garden as well as a very cosy traditional interior for the colder days.
I find Camden Passage particularly magical during the festive season, with Christmas lights and decorations adding to the atmosphere. That said, it is equally lovely in summer when you can sit outside, sip a coffee, and enjoy some prime people-watching.
