When I want a lunch that’s healthy, inexpensive, and delicious, I go to Porto’s. Porto’s is the place Southern California locals go to eat. Their ingredients are quality and the cost of everything is $2-3 less than the average sandwich, pastry, bakery. It's more than a bakery! Porto's is easy-to-order Cuban food for every tastebud.
It serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their breakfast menu offers a variety of egg concoctions, pastries, and the classics: French toast, pancakes, and waffles. For breakfast, I like to get a smoothie and croissant or the French toast and fruit.
For lunch, I recommend a sandwich (the vegetariano is my fav) with lightly fried plantain chips on the side.
For dinner, I still recommend a sandwich, but they also have full meals with protein, carbs, fruit, and vegetables. The one thing I don't recommend is the chicken soup. Drinks (juices, smoothies, coffee, and tea) cost between $2-5. Food costs between $5-10 and there's options on the menu as little as $1! It’s crowded, but the lines move fast and the food is well worth the wait.
Over the last four decades, Porto’s has solidified its place as a Southern California staple. There are locations in Glendale, Burbank, and Yorba Linda (on the way to Knott’s Berry Farm). It’s the perfect place to eat great, save money, and nourish the body.
