Dosirak, Korean for Lunchbox, serves what the name suggests—a simple Korean lunch. But don’t be fooled by this small, hole-in-the-wall restaurant. 

You walk into a humble restaurant and are greeted by the owner, Seungwee, a vibrant Korean mother who exudes passion and love. 

Jars of Kimchi and Gochugaru adorn the see-through preparation counter, where Seungwee and her staff churn out delicious bowl-style dishes for her loyal customers and plenty of home delivery services. The restaurant seats around ten people during lunch, so if you want a spot to dine in, be sure to get there early. 

Her passion for bringing Korean culture to Malmo is evidenced by the classic Korean dishes like Bibimbap – a satisfying mix of rice, vegetables, meat/tofu and sweet and spicy gochujang.  For something a little festive, the Japchae – a medley of vegetables, meat and sweet potato noodles – is absolutely stunning. Her Kimchi is absolutely delicious, and she offers a scheme where you can bring in your glass jar and get it filled with Kimchi for 15 SEK off. 

Besides her lovingly made food, the entrepreneurial Korean mother has written a book about Sweden in an attempt to inspire Koreans to travel to, study, work, and live in Sweden. Next time you’re there, strike up a conversation with the nice lady behind the counter, and you’ll be welcomed with open arms and delicious flavours.
