It has been a few years now since I started running, and as much as I love it here because of the beach and the many parks, there was one thing I was always moaning about. There are no hills in Malmö, so part of the training goes amiss. Well, until someone set me straight and told me about this spot. It is actually quite well hidden - I had cycled next to it hundreds of times and never seen it. Right behind the local swimming pool Hyllie Badet, there is a "park" - at least that's what it says on the map: Krockbäcksparken. It turns out it's full of hills, and no trees.
The main idea for the hills was for kids to have a place in winter to use their sleighs. During the deprived-of-snow rest of the year, the 10 hills are perfect for running training. The first time I went, I ran out of breath on hill number 3. The good news is that with time, albeit with a few lengthy breaks, I can do an equivalent of 70 floors!
