If you're visiting Malmö with children you should take the opportunity to get in touch with your inner child and spoil the children you're travelling with by visiting a themed playground! Or, maybe tour all of them?! Perhaps starting with Sollekplatsen?
I discovered this spot on my way to meet up with a friend. I was simply passing by when I saw something in the distance that demanded my attention - a big bright yellow sphere! Intrigued as I was, I had to check it out! Turns out, it was a playground, and its main feature was the sun! Sun is "sol" in Swedish so it's obviously no coincidence that it's part of the name of the playground - Sollekplatsen. Here you can travel through the solar system, climb around the Earth or just lay down on a cloud and admire Turning Torso in the background. Watching this playground I was absolutely mesmerized, and my first thought was - why weren't there playgrounds like this when I grew up? I would have loved playing here as a kid and I'm absolutely positive that your children will have the time of their life!
Malmö might pride itself on being the "city of parks", but I think we could definitely add "city of playgrounds" to that! More specifically, themed playgrounds. Since moving here I've noticed that many of Malmö's playgrounds are exceptionally imaginative and creative. Within Malmö, there are more than 20 individually themed playgrounds! - All worth a visit, so check them out!
