Spegeln is located in Stortorget in the central of the city. It has been an active cinema in the same building since 1934. The indoor decoration of this combination of bistro and cinema pays homage to its origins. In fact, the speciality of Spegeln is its Art Deco–styled salon where you can enjoy films and, for example, a glass of wine at the same time. You can also order a refill of drinks and snacks of your choice during the screening. And we are not just talking about popcorn and other typical cinema snacks, but fancy bistro food such as cheese platters and charcuterie. So, this venue is not ideal for those people who hate hearing other people smacking over the film.
Spegeln is my favourite cinema in Malmö, because going there feels little more special than just going to a regular cinema, due to its nostalgic atmosphere. I also find this place as an ideal option for a date night – either on your own or with someone else.
Spegeln shows a mix of old classic, indie releases, and blockbuster films. Also, special events, such as sing-along screenings are regularly organized. Visit their website for updated programme and information about upcoming events.
