Not all the best things are central, and that includes breakfast. Take a bus or stroll down university-lined artery Oxford Road and prepare to be rewarded.
In business for over 20 years, Denmark-inspired Kro Bar presents one of the best breakfasts in town. Relax over wooden benches in its lively back room and outdoor terrace or get comfortable upstairs in front of the log fire.
The only problem you’ll have with breakfast is knowing where to start. Eggs are always a great bet at Kro. Try the bacon-laced or veggie ‘facon’ eggs benedict (£7.50) or the salmon and caper-accompanied eggs royale (£7.95). Or have your eggs how you like them on toast (£5.95) with your favourite extras.
Start the day with a glorious blowout and fill your face with all-you-can-eat waffles (£8.50) on Saturdays.
Kro Bar is also a friend to vegetarian and vegan visitors, offering full English alternatives (£8.95), houmous and avocado bagels (£5.50), veggie eggs benedict (£7.50) and crunchy granola with honey, milk and yoghurt (£4.95).
Running until a liberal 3 pm, you won’t have to rush to make breakfast - a leisurely pace is the name of the game at Kro.
Kro is also a lively evening spot, offering well-selected bottled and draft beers from breweries such as Mikkeller, Delirium and Hitachino. On the rare occasions Manchester’s weather behaves, the outdoor spaces are perfect for watching the world go by over a drink.
