Full disclosure: to visit el Nido de Quetzalcoatl you have to know a resident or rent an Airbnb. However, I highly recommend this place if you have one (or two) extra days in Mexico City. Even if you are a local, I would still endorse visiting El Nido—you will inadvertently feel far away from the city.
El Nido de Quetzalcoatl is an apartment complex designed by the acclaimed Mexico architect, Javier Senosian. The building is shaped like the body of Quetzalcoatl (a feathered serpent deity in Aztec culture) and it consists of 11 apartments. Connected to the building is a very large park, it takes almost the whole day to visit it completely. Almost all of the surroundings are covered by mosaics and vegetation. The colors of the architecture are reminiscent of a Fauvist painting.
El Nido de Quetzalcoatl is a unique and magical place but if I had to choose my favorite place within it, it would be the "greenhouse". The light there illuminates the different plants and flowers beautifully.
